Jackson was born August 2008 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a rare congenital heart defect affecting the left ventrical and aorta. Three days after he was born he had the first of three open heart surgeries at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT. In January 2009 he had his 2nd surgery, the Glenn, and in May 2012 he had his third open heart surgery, the Fontan. He is currently doing great and you would hardly know he's anything but perfectly healthy. He's sweet, cute, and as wonderful as they come and such a joy in our lives.
This week Jack and I have been bummin'. My sisters husband was out of town so we helped them have a "staycation."
On Thursday we went to the Tulip Festival. The weather was perfect and the flowers amazing. Jack had a fabulous time.
Then on Friday we went to the Hogel Zoo.
We saw elephants... ...ate Oreos... and smiled a whole lot. Here's Jack making his scary alligator face while sitting on an alligator and wearing his alligator shirt. What a guy.
Looks like a blast! I actually did not end up going with Kyle and his cousin because Grant was getting his ultrasound at the moment and was purple and fussy. Hope you guys had fun... did you know that you get free zoo passes for life from having a kid in the PICU? You can always call Cindy in the Parent Resource Center and with enough advance notice, you can always go! If we ever get out of here, we can make a play date!
I just love reading your blog about Jack and your family. He is so cute and such a happy boy. Every time I read your blog about him I can't help but smile. I am so glad your family stayed in our ward. We love you guys and love watching Jack grow up. He is getting so big and doing so good. Thank you for sharing your miracles with us. Ang

That's the BEST alligator face I have ever seen! Such talent! :)
Holding and squishing him last night was the highlight of my day. :) I need a Jack fix everyday, seriously. :)
Oh he is so cute. I'm jealous of all the fun outings! Maybe when Logan is a little older we can go too! :)
