Can I just say how much I hate potty training? We made great progress from Monday to Tuesday, but then he woke up sick on Wednesday and felt too yucky for me to push much potty time so today we seem to be back to square one. Blah. I'm hoping by next week at this time we will all be happy campers, but currently while we are in the trenches it sure seems tedious. Anyone have any magic tips?

Don't give back in to the diapers and just keep cleaning up the pee. He'll get it and still have accidents but totally freak out (excitedly) when he does it...give him treats, toys, stickers, whatever he loves and make it a big deal. When he messes up don't yell just don't give him extra attention. That's usually what they want anyway whether it's good or bad.
I haven't started with Owen.. he needed to get through this surgery and heal up. He is SO ready though.
I like to do big boy underwear with a pullup OVER it for the first week. That way if he has an "accident", he feels it on his skin but I don't have to clean it off the floor.
I set the timer for every 15 minutes and we sit on the potty everytime the timer goes off. It usually keeps them going all day.
I make it super fun and positive!! Lots of rewards, but never get frustrated if there is an accident. It's okay. It's all part of learning.
If there is a mess on the floor to clean up, we both get the paper towels to clean it up. Taking responsibility is huge!
I usually do treats for rewards, but Owen isn't food motivated, so I'm thinking stickers and then we'll go to the Disneystore and pick out something GREAT when he is done potty training. Something BIG to look forward to at the end of it all is motivating!!
I'm so afraid that I'll get though the potty training with Owen and then the Fontan will kill it. He's going to want to get up with his chest tubes to go potty and I'm going to say "just go in your diaper", because realistically, you can't get them up to the potty in the hospital room every time!
We're cheering you on Jack!!!
Potty in the hospital.. I just remembered.. the nurse told me to bring a little potty when we come back. It makes it easier to sit them up on it in bed to go if they don't want to use a diaper. That totally just came back to me. :)
Oh boy. I hope that you figure it out before your baby is born...one less thing to worry about! I don't look forward to attempting the potty training with Grant on Lasix. Yikes! Good luck. I hope that you find something that works!
