Jackson was born August 2008 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a rare congenital heart defect affecting the left ventrical and aorta. Three days after he was born he had the first of three open heart surgeries at Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT. In January 2009 he had his 2nd surgery, the Glenn, and in May 2012 he had his third open heart surgery, the Fontan. He is currently doing great and you would hardly know he's anything but perfectly healthy. He's sweet, cute, and as wonderful as they come and such a joy in our lives.
Jack had a cardiology check up a few weeks before Christmas. Everything looks good. The only thing we are keeping an eye on is some narrowing that he continues to have on his aorta. They had debated whether or not to balloon it open during his cath last spring and decided not to, but I kind of wish they would have. It's not serious at the moment, but if it gets worse we will be headed back to the cath lab. Hopefully not for a while though. If this is our biggest worry, we will take it.
We had a great Christmas, but after so much holiday craziness, we are kind of glad life is back to normal.
