Naughty or Nice?

Jack had a really good night, sleeping peacefully through his midnight feeding and waking calmly for about an hour during his 3 AM feeding. He was so good that we didn't even wake up Hardy.

At 5:30 Jack started crying so dad took his turn to go in and feed him and he discovered that Jack and his busy little hands had yanked out his feeding tube. Of course we didn't yet have a stethoscope to help me make sure the tube was placed in the right place so Hardy had to run to Walgreens and purchased the only one they had in the store. I then had to shove a new tube down his nose. Thankfully I got it in the first try, but Jack was none to happy about it, and neither was mom or dad. Then about 10 mintues after dad left for work he nearly pulled the darn thing out again. I caught it in time and got it taped down securly, but now I think it moved and is out of place again so somehow I'm going to have to get it off and readjusted. Thank goodness Grandma has arrived so someone can hold him down while I pry the tape off his face for the third time this morning.
Here is a picture of his battle wounds. Most of the holes in his tummy are from the drains and pacer wires. Looks pretty good considering what he looked like 2 weeks ago.

Oh what a precious little busybody. His scar is so clean and a badge of courage for all that he has been through in his 3 short weeks. Sending hugs your way and wishing we were closer . . .

I can't believe how Speedy his recovery was and how fantastic he looks!! What a little STUD!!

We've been on NG feeds for 7 months now... not trying to scare you... and they get used to it and stop fussing with it eventually. Hopefully Jack won't have it long!

Congrats on being home! It gets SO much easier with the meds, feeds, and sleeping!

Congrats about being home! It takes a while to get into a routine but eventually you will like it. It's a strange feeling to be in complete control without a nurse to make sure your doing everything right. I keep waiting for Charlie's G-tube to be pulled out. So far it hasn't happened so I haven't had to replace it yet. Although I think I would be very excited if he had enough dexterity to do it himself. Jack is amazing and you guys are too!--Angel

Congrats on being home! Jack looks so awesome; even better than when I saw you in the hospital last week. I'm surprised you weren't sent home with a stethoscope. Everytime Nathan was readmitted to Primary's we ended up with a new one. Our stay in the NICU gave us 3 for a grand total of 5. My little girl, Elisabeth, loves playing doctor on Nathan with the extras!

Nathan hated his NG tube and pulled it out every other day in teh NICU. Thankfully he himself has not pulled out the G-tube...yet! They kids are spunky- they have to be in order to make it through everything.

Good luck and hugs!

Personally I think that it's good for Hardy to be up and in his car at 5:30 am without being headed to play an early round of golf.

Yay! I can't believe what a tough guy Jack is. Home in less than 3 weeks, that must be a record!? Hope all goes well in the next week getting adjusted. We miss seeing you!!

I'm glad your home! You might want to put little socks on his hands so he won't pull out the feeding tube. Sometimes these tough little kids can be so smart!
